A third female officer at HMP Five Wells in Northamptonshire has been jailed after admitting to inappropriate relationships with inmates, raising fresh concerns about staff conduct at the £253 million facility.

A third female officer at HMP Five Wells in Northamptonshire has been jailed after admitting to inappropriate relationships with inmates, raising fresh concerns about staff conduct at the £253 million facility.
Aimee Duke, 26, was sentenced to 12 months in prison at Northampton Crown Court after pleading guilty to two counts of misconduct in public office.
Investigators revealed that Duke exchanged 248 calls and messages with one prisoner over two months and another 254 communications with a second inmate. CCTV footage also showed her emerging from a one-person cell with the inmates.
She was arrested in September 2022, just months after the “super-prison” officially opened. Duke reportedly sobbed throughout the hearing as her sentence was handed down.
Her conviction follows two other scandals at the same prison:
• Toni Cole, 29, jailed in February for a year after her relationship with an inmate.
• Rachel Stanton, 31, who narrowly avoided jail in July for her involvement with an armed robber.
