The Federal Government has officially flagged off the construction of the Wurukum Flyover in Makurdi, Benue State.
Governor Hyacinth Alia, who shared the development on his official page, described the project as a landmark achievement that will change the face of the state capital.
According to him, the flyover will not only ease the heavy traffic at Wurukum but also strengthen connectivity between the North-East, South-South, and South-East regions. He explained that the project will further boost trade, improve agricultural movement, and create more economic opportunities for Benue people.
Governor Alia thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the project as part of the Makurdi–Enugu dualization, even though it was not in the original design. He also praised the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, for driving the vision to reality.
The governor added that his administration will continue to complement federal efforts, pointing to ongoing work on the Makurdi–Gboko road and other state projects.
“The Wurukum Flyover will serve as a catalyst for growth and a symbol of the renewed partnership between the Federal Government and Benue State,” Alia said.
