The aftermath of the tragic death of Ruth Otabor, younger sister of Big Brother Naija winner Phyna (Ijeoma Josephina Otabor), has taken a new twist as Ruth’s partner, Mr. Daniel Adebo, has finally spoken out.

Ruth, who passed away on August 31, 2025, after being struck by a Dangote truck, left behind an eight-month-old baby, sparking heated conversations about her personal life and the struggles leading up to her death.
In a viral video circulating online, Adebo alleged that he had been sidelined in decisions regarding Ruth’s health and welfare despite being financially responsible for her and their child.

According to him, when Ruth was moved to Lagos for medical care, he had to seek Phyna’s approval before being allowed to see her. He insisted that he had consistently supported Ruth, paying her tuition fees, catering for her needs, and even supporting her first child before they had a baby together.
“I have been the one paying her tuition for three years. It wasn’t until two months ago, when she was preparing for graduation, that Phyna sent her a gown and wig. I have been the one taking care of her and even the son she had before I met her, and we also have a child together,” Adebo said in the clip.
He further challenged Phyna to provide evidence of financial support to Ruth in recent years, stating that if she could, he would “bow his head in shame.”

Adebo also clarified why he initially stayed silent after Phyna publicly described him as irresponsible.
“The reason I didn’t respond when Phyna called me irresponsible is because of my woman. I don’t want her to wake up and see me involved in any drama. All I am after is her recuperation. I want to come to Lagos to be by her side, but they said I must take permission from Phyna.”

The revelation has stirred mixed reactions online. While some social media users questioned why Adebo had remained silent until Ruth’s passing, others expressed skepticism about his claims, pointing out that Phyna was visibly present and vocal during her sister’s hospital ordeal.
The situation has since snowballed into a family dispute playing out in the public eye, with fans recalling similar controversies involving celebrities and their families in recent times.
For now, the Otabor family is yet to officially respond to Adebo’s claims, as they continue to mourn the painful loss of Ruth.
