Amir Tataloo, who is 37 years old, was born in Iran and was living in Istanbul since 2018. However, he was handed over to Iranian authorities by Turkish police in December 2023.

Tataloo has a unique style of music that is a blend of rap, pop, and RnB. This has also given him a massive following among young Iranians.

However, the singer has been in many controversies. In 2015, he released a song that supported Iran’s nuclear program. This song became a contentious issue after Donald Trump became the president of the US in 2018. He also made headlines in 2017 for a televised meeting with former Iranian president Ebrahim Raisi.

The singer’s current issue began when an Iranian court found him guilty of insulting Islam’s Prophet Mohammed. First, he was sentenced to five years in prison but later sentenced to death. Though the verdict is not yet final and can be appealed.

In addition to blasphemy charges, Tataloo is also facing a 10-year sentence for allegedly promoting prostitution, releasing obscene content, and spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic.
